Ok a few minor tweaks were made to the GTR to stop the jpeg artifacts. I am calling it done. I am putting it to bed.
A friend asked to see the lighting setup for this. Now, I don’t normally share lighting setups as I am a firm believer that you can pretty much workout the lighting for a car just by looking at the reflections. Well he guessed right so I guess there is no harm in sharing it then. So, for those of you that are interested, here it is:
Pretty basic to be honest, there is no real trickery going on here, just nice soft, consistent reflections highlighting subtly the curves of the car.
I enjoyed working on this image. It’s probably one of my favourite renders that I have ever made. I have to thank my mate over at
http://www.distortedimagery.co.uk/
for his help. He showed me the light. (sorry for the bad joke) So I guess it is time to move onto the next image. I am going do a car in a white studio as it is something that I haven’t done before. The choices for the cars are:
- Ferrari 458 Italia
- Ferrari California
- Lamborghini Gallardo
- Lamborghini Reventon
- Mercedes SLS AMG
Right now I am leaning towards the Merc – I think it will suit the white studio.
Let me know what you think…
